Why should someone else have all the fun?
Even in today’s fast paced world, most of us find a fleeting moment to think about our own mortality at some point in time.  I mean let’s face it; you can’t turn on the news, pick up the paper, or search the net without finding tragic things happening all around us.  It’s a fact of life, or death, as the case may be.

Most of us that are out in the working world have gone so far as to secure a meager amount of life insurance.  A few others may take that painful extra step and write their own will.

There’s still one big step that 99.9% of Americans neglect, our chance at our own final fifteen minutes of fame, our defining moment, the immortal words that will put the final footnote on our life.  The missing step is writing your own Obituary. 

In short, we really blow it when it comes to getting our big chance to toot our own horn one last time, get published in the newspaper or online, pick out a favorite picture, and sprinkle in our thoughts, concerns, andyes, even opinions on life as only one person knows it.  

Is that really fair?

I mean think about it!  You spend your whole life, living one day at a time, going to school, getting a job, paying bills, maybe raising a family, so that someone else can try to capture it all in two meager paragraphs, insert a cheesy pic at the last minute before they plant you in the ground and say goodbye…  

Again I ask, is that really fair?

I mean, after all, is there really anyone in your life that knows you, as well as, well, you?

I say let’s start a trend, no a revolution! 

Let today be the day that you laugh at death, spit in the grim reaper’s eye, and write out the words that will share a laugh with the people you love most. It’s your life; it should be your Fun Obit!  Why should someone else have all the fun?
